screensaver starting during playback

Try the following steps for the Apple TV 4, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

1. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > System > Restart).
2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
3. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
4. Reset the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Reset all settings)
5. Restore the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Restore)

If none of the above helps I'd take the unit back to the store.

Mine interferes with nothing, it is set to activate after 2 minutes and works perfectly. If you have restored your Apple TV I'm not sure what else you can do but take it back. You could try it in another location to rule out interference from one of the connections but I'm not sure from what you have said that fiddling about with settings will do you much good.

Have you tried making the screensaver time longer?

Did they send you away from the store with a unit that still started the screensaver when it shouldn't.

Yes. Mine is set to never because it was interfering with audio AirPlay. I activate the screensaver manually by hitting Menu from the home screen. It moves to the upper left, then on to screensaver.

Hi fayer. What version of tvOS are you running? What are you playing when the screensaver takes over? Is it an app on Apple TV, or AirPlay from another device?
