Q: message app freeze

when I open my text message app It freezes on a blank white page. Anyone know why?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3.5

Try to force quit the app and open again, if that doesn't help, you need to update your iOS to the latest version.

Are you still really using iOS 9.3.5 as your signature says? I'm asking because I am seeing this behavior as well, but it is in iOS 10.0.1
