Sep 19, 2016 7:42 AM in response to Yaakov99by léonie, for some reason the very little progress made only happened when i plugged my phone directly into my laptop and not when its plugged into the wall.
Is your charger the original Apple charger for the iPhone? Did you keep the Photos.app open while connecting the iPhone to power?
My iPhone 5s needed three full days to scan the photos for people's faces, and has been not showing any progress for a long time, but finally finished.
The results are not very satisfactory, however. Most detected people albums are showing only one photo per person. It certainly detects people very well, but does not recognize them again I different photos.

Sep 20, 2016 7:40 AM in response to léonieby Rolf Kievits,iPhone 6 here, and already on iOS 10 with the public beta's. Since this feature was added, and since I was playing around with the public beta's the Photos app has been trying to sort a Faces album for me. So that has been some 4 weeks now, and just 1100 pics more to go, at a pace of 1 pic per day average. Perhaps I have the album complete when iPhone 8 hits the shelves.
Been trying everything, from charging on macbook, mac pro, wall plug, anything. This album (Faces) is a total laugh.

Sep 20, 2016 10:23 AM in response to Rolf Kievitsby Rysz,iOS 10 has already been released to the public. You should not be using a beta version.
There is no Faces album in Photos for iOS 10. You are either referring to the People album, or you created the Faces album and, therefore, it's not being populated automatically.

Sep 20, 2016 10:30 AM in response to Rolf Kievitsby léonie,Is your Photos Library an iCloud Photo Library with optimized storage? Photos on iOS 10 seems primarily to be scanning the photos that are currently stored locally on the iPhone in full size. Try to force Photos to download more photos from iCloud by viewing them enlarged.

Sep 20, 2016 12:42 PM in response to Ryszby Rolf Kievits,Hi Rysz,
thanks, and yes, very well aware of the final version. However, the GM of the beta versions already IS the final version (in this case 10.0.1) and you cannot upgrade anymore to the final release.
I meant to say, that already from the first beta's up to and including the GM / Final 10.0.1 I have seen NO progress whatsoever on the People Album.
And yes, my apologies for this omission: I meant the People album - built on face recognition.

Sep 20, 2016 12:44 PM in response to léonieby Rolf Kievits,Hi Leonie, yes, that might be an interesting point. It indeed is the optimized version. So from that, I might conclude that Photos, in the People album is trying to match faces over the air with the iCloud library ? Goodness, that just COULD explain quite a bit... (like speed, battery use, etc)
At least that sounds a field to concentrate my analysis upon now... thanks for that!

Sep 20, 2016 12:53 PM in response to Rolf Kievitsby léonie,Good Luck with the analysis.
My library is an iCloud Library too on the iPhone, and the faces scan seems to be focussing on the locally stored full versions of the photos.
