Q: iCloud doesn't upload all videos

Hello everyone.

I have a problem, and I haven't found any similar topics online.

I am having trouble with my local hard drive space on my Macbook Air 2012 mid. I recently found out that iCloud Drive actually uses my local space, so therefore I deleted some files and saved a lot of space.

A couple of days ago I wanted to edit a couple of large videos from my album "videos", and these videos were in the cloud, and as far as I know, not taking up space on my HDD. To be able to edit these videos, Photos had to "download" them locally. This is also fine, however, know I have run out of space, so much that Photos won't sync anymore - unless of course I delete some of these videos, and transfer them to my external HDD.

Are there any way(s) to get Photos to upload all of my videos to iCloud again? This is pretty frustrating, especially because i like to have access to all of my videos on all of my devices.

I hope that one of you guys have an answer or a workaround for this.

Thank you, and greetings from Denmark!

Alex.

iCloud is a syncing system, not an external storage system. If you delete them from the device/computer  they will be deleted from iCloud. For the computer, go to Photos/Preferences/iCloud and select Optimize. That will reduce the space required by about 90% when fully effective.
