Oct 20, 2016 12:44 PM in response to philipede1by kouloup,Sorry to hear about that.
Me too. I had the problem again after 5 days of working fine.
I was going home this evening with the plan to downgrade to ios 9 BUT just a few minutes ago i read that Apple stopped signing 9.3.5 and 10.0.1. We can only re-install 10.0.2.... ***
Are they serious?
My opinion: THE ONLY AND BEST THING that Apple had all these years was that the IPhones were PHONES first of all and then smart... Which is all we NEED. Which was BETTER than Android....so far.
Give us the PHONE of iPHONE BACK. -
Oct 20, 2016 12:51 PM in response to Billy78GRby nbadules,Can someone (or even the author of the original post) move this out of the iPhone Accessories forum into something more appropriate such as the "Using iPhone" or the "iPhone Hardware" forum?
I don't know, maybe those are more visible than the Accessories for the Apple support team because so far, nobody even remotely related to Apple submitted any response in here

Oct 20, 2016 2:36 PM in response to Billy78GRby vasilishalkida,I Had this problem just after the update to ios 10 .
now its solved . Try the following :
1- reset all settings . It only changes your wallpaper, erases your wifi passwords
and , text size and fingerprints .
2: after the reset , try to setup only one fingerprint
and I think that this will solve the problem.
at least it did for me . (When I created 4-5 fingerprints , the problem is there again)
hope this helps.

Oct 20, 2016 6:18 PM in response to kouloupby philipede1,A Phone that just works isn't sexy. A phone that takes pictures with 2 cameras and blurs out the background is sexy, and that sells phones. The iPhone 7 iOS 10.1 is what is being worked on. We are already customers . BUT REMEMBER. It is easier to keep a old customer then get a new one,, remember that Apple.. I still am hopeful a mamber of this forum will find a answer.

Oct 21, 2016 7:14 AM in response to Billy78GRby Petruskahn,I have the same problem, I went to the assistance (Italy) and they gave me a brand new Iphone 6S 64.
Of course new telephone same problem, even worst. But I noticed that it occours specially when I leave a known wi-fi. (tbh if I switch off and on I always managed it).
Reading this thread I tried to switch off "Calls on Other Devices".
Now it's running fine, like it was in ios 9.
Some considerations:
1) I'm sure that Calls on Other Devices was off in ios 9, so it probably is triggered on during the update.
2) the problem occurred really often when working, and when I'm workink I always have the Ipad air 2 in my bag, so seem posible that the problem is related with the "bad comunication" between the 2 devices.3) It is funny they change the Iphone not to admit it is a software problem...

Oct 21, 2016 7:40 AM in response to Billy78GRby Sanjoar,I have this problem with a new 6s I bought two weeks ago. It has iOS 10.0.1 pre-installed. I have to disconnect the earphones and try dialing the number a few times and I get back the sound after a few tries. I received an intimation to upgrade to 10.0.2 but I am hesitant since many have replied to this question saying that 10.0.2 doesn't help. Will try the speaker option next time this happens.

Oct 21, 2016 2:57 PM in response to Puertopadre16by Puertopadre16,@Vasilishalkida, the method of using the standard issue ringtones rather than a custom ringtone failed multiple times today so I will next attempt your method and see if I get better results. Will keep you posted and provide feedback.

Oct 21, 2016 6:10 PM in response to Jonathan UKby bikegreeny,An Update...
- I've utilized the feedback mechanisms that Jonathan UK posted above. So far, no response from Apple.
- kouloup posted a new thread "I just open a thread in Using Iphone...Let's continue the discussion there" to this Community. This was posted 4 minutes after Jonathan UK's above but does not appear on-line! In addition, this new thread is blocked (possibly geo-blocked) from me (an Aussie) accessing it.
- Problem seems to be confined to the iPhone late "S" models (5S, 6S and 7S). My close cohort using iPhone 6 and 6+ have not experienced the problem.
- Problem only occurs in iOS10.0.1 (less) and iOS10.0.2 (more).
- My workaround of touching the -15secs icon rapidly while playing a Podcast when the problem occurs seems to be reliable. It's also potentially therapeutic in the sense that doing this action every now and then prevents the problem from occurring. I have not "reset" my iPhone in 4 days now and the problem has occurred twice.
My hypothesis that there's an audio-device state-machine locking-up seems to fit the symptoms and the workaround above i.e. repeated -15secs jumps fills the state machine with valid device instances. When an invalid device (such as "Handoff" through an iCloud device or "Calls on Other Devices") enters the state machine, this problem occurs when that invalid device is selected which can't release audio control because as it doesn't exist or is non-responsive.

Oct 21, 2016 7:19 PM in response to bikegreenyby Puertopadre16,@Bikegreeny, thanks for the comprehensive feedback, however I will point out that this same issue is occurring on both the 6 and 6+ that our staff use both at work on company issued 6 and 6+ iPhones and their own personal phones of which some are using the iPhone 6 and others the 6+. So far so good with the one workaround of using only one fingerprint after a settings reset but as I also mentioned above the workaround WRT(With Regard To) the standard issue apple ringtone over a custom ringtone failed me on day two. The more feedback that is sent to Apple by community users the better http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Reference your point number 2 above, the link to the other discussion doesn't work from Switzerland either and gives me the "You are not authorized" style of message, furthermore reference your point number 5, this method has failed me more often than not and at one point becomes completely ineffective requiring me to do a complete reset of network settings to get full functionality once again.

Oct 21, 2016 9:16 PM in response to Puertopadre16by bikegreeny,@Puertopadre16, great feedback thanks. Somehow, a confirmed pattern of cause > symptom > workaround will emerge. With regard to your points:
- Noted - iPhones Impacted: All recent iPhone models capable of running either iOS10.0.1 or iOS10.0.2
- Workaround1 - Single Fingerprint registration after Settings Reset [Possibly OK].
- Workaround2 - Custom <> Standard ringtone switch [Limited].
- Workaround3 - Rapid rewind and fast-forward Podcast, Music or Video [ Limited] (see below).
- Workaround4 - Cold Reboot [Limited]
- Feedback - Apple iPhone (done), Twitter (done), @kouloup "Using iPhone" link (Fails for some - unauthorized]
Latest iPhone 6s failure today: I discovered; Bluetooth (OK), Speaker (OK), Ear-piece (NOK), Ear-pods (NOK). When I received a phone call, I could not hear the caller. The Speaker icon was greyed-out but I touched it anyway and then after I touched it again (as it was silent), I could hear the caller through the Ear-piece! This also restored sound to the Ear-pods.
The iOS clearly displays the state of Speaker as disabled (greyed-out), but the Audio device can still receive signals that resets it. I'm thinking of changing my hypothesis to one whereby the signals from particular Audio devices are not clearing when they are turned-off or set to standby, Therefore, somehow, a clear valid Audio device signal needs to get through to set the Audio device State Machine correctly.
