    Hi jojodav,

Congratulations on your new iPhone 7! I understand that your text messages are being read to you, but you have VoiceOver turned off. I know that it is important to have things kept in private, so I will be happy to help you with this.

If I can please have you check to make sure the following settings are turned off: Settings > General> Accessibility > Speech. Make sure that Speak Selection and Speak Screen are both off. Then force close the Messages app and restart your iPhone. Then test to make sure that the issue is no longer occurring.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
