Go into Settings / Display & Brightness. Check the Night Shift setting (tap it) and check to see if Scheduled is ON. Then check the From: and To: times. Night shift will tint your screen yellowish if the time of day was within the time range specified when you took your screenshot. If you're not within the Scheduled time, check your Manually Enable Until Tomorrow setting and make sure it's OFF.

You can turn OFF Scheduled and Manually Enable Until Tomorrow to return the screen to the bright look.

I know it looks like that.  I don't have the night shift on.  all settings the same exact and both full brightness

If it's not an issue with Night Shift, then I don't know what it is. You may want to take it back to the store you bought it from (either your carrier or Apple).

Probably not. The screen is probably calibrated for a warmer color temperature.

Thanks.  yes that seems to be case.  It is warmer tint.  The iPhone 6s has cool tint and my old 5s has the warmer tint.  I like the cooler tint as the clarity and contrast seem better.  So do you think all the iPhone 7's will be the same? if so I will have to accept.

    thanks

This was a complaint that has come up quite a bit on the internet news.

If you wait till Apple upgrades it's production sources, you may want to exchange it for a newer unit later....

Do you think the process will improve? I am more than happy to give back a very expensive phone until they can get their processes right!

No, this won't change.  As  anilsudhakaran stated, it is just how the phone is and the choice of screen they chose: warmer tint vs. cooler tint.  IT is fine and I am used to it.  You will only notice it if you compare to another phone.  I went to the apple store and all the demos had the warmer tint as well.
