And continuing to try to charge or use it is almost guaranteed to have made it even worse. You can take it to Apple for a free evaluation, after which they will tell you your options.

Please do not try to charge it for the moment. If water, or just humidity was inside, it will probably create a short-circuit.
What you should do is, I suppose, let your iPhone get some rest for a few hours to a day, and even more if you can.
So that the humidity evacuates.
In case you've short-circuited it, send it for repair would be a great option.
