D/C the USB and it failed again. It appears the printing effort has prevented iPhoto
from opening.

and since you keep mentioning Aperture what version of Aperture although it is not at all clear how that relates to your iPhoto question
And what exactly are you doing step by step and what it the exact reason it does not print including the exact error message?
