Q: should I buy a macbook pro now or wait for the new release?

Hello there Apple community .

I am an app developer looking for the best (or close) laptop to replace my 3 years old dell laptop which is falling behind with the new tech today (can't replace 3rd gen i3 cpu ).

I've been developing on ubuntu/elementary operating system which is very similar to the macbook GUI.

I am trying to transition into an apple macbook pro but I am curious of whether to buy a macbook pro now or wait for the new release which is rumored to be released late this year or early next year.

Would it be a wise choice to wait?

No one knows if or when Apple will release any particular product. If you need a Mac, you need it, and waiting another day amounts to just one more day without something you need.

That sounds like a cool project, but you certainly don't need the latest and most expensive hardware to do that. It's very unlikely that whatever Apple comes up with next will represent a quantum technological leap over what's available today.

If you want to save a few dollars I strongly recommend Apple's Refurbished Mac page: http://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/mac. They have the exact same warranty and AppleCare eligibility as brand new Macs.
