Other users have reported experiencing issues when connecting Bose headphones via the supplied adapter.
It may help, at least temporarily, to unplug and reconnect the headphones from / to the adapter.
One user indicates that Apple may be working on rectifying a software bug.
I suggest that you let Apple know that you also are experiencing problems:
