Q: Should I disable file vault before any downgrade…?
Greetings…!
I am currently running El Capitan 10.11.6 with File Vault enabled. I am considering upgrading to Sierra once it is released, tomorrow. However, if it causes problems or I simply don't like it and wish to downgrade should I disable File Vault before beginning that procedure? If I downgraded I would probably downgrade to Mavericks, as I much prefer it.
Thank you in advance for any future assistance…

you should back up before you do anything.
Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support
Any encryption will take more CPU cycles away from the system when it is active, I would remove it.
