Q: Should I often open and close my macbook

I am 15 and am homeschooled, so during my school day my macbook just sits on my desk plugged in and charging. I get up from my desk multiple times a day (to read a textbook, have lunch, take a break, exc.) and I was wondering if I should always be closing and opening my macbook. Is it good for it if I am leaving for half an hour to close it (put it in sleep mode) or should I just leave it open the whole day from when I wake up until I go to sleep.

You can choose to do whatever works best for you. You really can. It makes no difference.

Of the thousands of MacBooks I deployed in education, both public and private schools, I have yet to encounter a single one whose hinges have worn out from overuse. Close it if you want, just don't close it on a pen or something else between the screen and keyboard. That is the only damage I have seen.

Use its battery once in a while. Don't leave it plugged in for weeks at a time.

Okay, thank you so much. I just wasn't sure if it was good for it to be in and out of sleep mode all the time.

Or fresh raspberries. Cleaning the seeds out of the keyboard was not fun.

Macs work best when you pretty much ignore them. Don't sweat it. Sleep mode is the same whether the lid is closed or not.

My MacBook's hinges have worn out, when comparing my mac to some of my friend's ones, i found that mine seems to swing a lot more freely when i'm opening and closing it. Could there be another reason for this?
