Ipad Pro (ios10) Lock on cover close missing

Will not sleep when cover is closed. (several ? mention sleep is under General tab) But on mine

Auto-lock is under settings/Display not General. Auto-Lock 5,10,never is under Display tab. A Display model has the lock/unlock when closed under auto-lock tab. (Air pro 32gb, 9.7", ios 10.01)

iPad Air, iOS 10

This happened to me when a magnet came out of my aftermarket folio style case. Mine has a magnet at each of the two corners furthest from the cover's hinge- on the front side of the case so it can hold the cover closed and also probably signals the iPad in some way at power up so it will give the option to sleep when the folio closes.

I hope this helps people who get here via searches. These problems don't just happen to the one person who asked last year, so there is no shame in adding knowledge much later.

Yes, it does turn on the Lock/Unlock option after you install you self-locking cover. There has a been a lot of discussion about this and some people even stated that it did not work for them even after installing a cover, but I got my new third-party $12 cover today, installed it, and checked my settings under "display and brightness" and the new line of Lock/unlock showed up now. And the cover works perfectly to turn it off (some people report that their batteries are going dead after they close the cover and then discovered their cover was not actually turning off iPad. That's true. Some don't. I saw a youtube video of a guy that had two identical covers. One turned off the iPad, the other didn't. It was because the manufacturer put the magnet in wrong (wrong polarity facing out) in some of their pads... buyer beware.). BTW, my wife's new iPad 9.7 2017 model, same as mine, both brand new this week, both running the same iOS 11 version, her iPad showed the lock/unlock option right out of the box (after we started them and tweaked them to our tastes) and mine didn't. I assume it had something to do with the way we set each of ours up, disabling certain features, etc.

I'm not so sure about the iPad Pro, I have an iPad Mini 4, and when I go to Settings>Display & Brightness, I can see the Auto-Lock setting. And directly below that is a setting for Lock/Unlock which I can turn on to activate the setting for when opening and closing a cover. You can try checking the iPad User guide for additional help. http://help.apple.com/ipad/10/
