imessage autocorrect not working

I have deleted the conversation and started a new one but it's still not working. Doesn't recognize errors or typos, doesn't suggest replacements or insert them automatically. And it's only for this one conversation. All others (iMessage and regular SMS) are working fine.

There also seems to be a slight flash of the screen whenever I enter the text field in this conversation. Any idea what

thanks. turns out this was the solution but i didn't really understand what you meant by "filter through the keyboards".

i have now figured out that because i added other keyboards (emoji based ones especially), the keyboard doesn't always return the default and it's left in other keyboards the auto-correct does not function.

for anyone else that might not understand either, just keep tapping the little globe symbol (to the bottom left of the keyboard) until it returns back to whatever your default language is (it will say the name in the space bar when it gets back there). auto-correct should be working again after that.
