How to: second macro keyboard?

Was wondering how to connect and configure a second keyboard so the Mac recognises it as such and therefore separate macros can be made ?
Ultimately, I am looking to be able to type on the 1st keyboard and use it normally and to have the 2nd lying around for when I need to use some specific macros and such.
