iOS10 iPad keyboard hangs

I have this issue after updating also. My wife got a brand new ipad at the weekend, it needed an update out of the box and it is also doing it. We both have it in any app we use, and at seemingly random intervals.

I'm surprised that there aren't more instances being reported - pretty sure others must just be putting up with it or assuming it's something they've done inadvertently, not that we're a relatively unique bunch of users all doing something weird on the keyboard without realising.

I hope Apple notice and fix it in a future update. It's really irritating.

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with the keyboard on the iPad. I know how important it is to be sure the keyboard is working properly. First, check out this article with steps to Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

The next thing you might want to try is going to Settings on the iPhone and then to Reset. Once there, tap Reset all Settings. This will reset the iPhone settings, but not erase personal information such as photos, contacts, or music. It will, however, remove Wi-Fi and VPN settings so be sure you have those settings and passwords ready for when the iPhone is started back up.

If that doesn't work, it would be a good idea to be sure there is not a software issue as the root cause of this for you.

2. Use this article for the steps to Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings.
3. Once that is done, set the phone up as new and test the phone to see if the issue is still going on. Then, follow this article to Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Hi. Are you using the default iOS keyboard or a 3rd party one? If it's a 3rd party KB, you could try uninstalling it and reinstalling.

Strange. It just works for me... Unfortunately, you've marked your question solved, which may cause some people to skip over it. Maybe you should post again, though double posting is frowned upon.

IIt's been a little while, have you managed to fix this issue? I have the exact same problem and I've tried the above as well. Its very irritating and it's happening right as we speak, annoyingly. I can press the buttons to switch to emoji and the keyboard down symbol, it lights up and registers the touch but doesn't respond past that.

I have this same problem and after iOS 10 update. The ".?123" button works randomly and probably only 30-40%of the time. Very annoying when you can't access the numbers to type. Anyone know of a solution yet? Already sent feedback to apple but that is essentially useless.
