Q: Macbook Pro black screen on os x install
Hey and thanks ahead for any help!!
I have a Macbook Pro 15' Mid 2012 trying to do a fresh install of El Capitan, Whenever I try booting from the USB I here the apple sound and hold down the option key. I get the option to choose El capitan from USB. I select it and get the apple logo with the progress bar at the bottom. This is were the problem comes into play it gets about 3/4 of the way and just stops. After about 15 mins the screen goes black. If i touch any of the keys at regular intervals while I have the apple logo it will stay on but never progress. If i let it go black I can touch the space bar and the fan will kick on but it stay black.. I have to hold down power for 10 sec to fully shut it off before I will get display again. I get no mouse or anything else. This also occurs if I do it using the online recovery. Tried resetting NVRAM to no avail. I even tried Mountain Lion and Yosemate and it does the same.. Although when i do mountain lion it actually does say (through the speakers) to hit return for english. So that makes me believe that it is indeed getting past the screen but just not displaying anything.. I have also tried an external monitor but cant get any display on that at all.. The funny thing is I can boot off any Windows CD or USB and go through the install like theres no tomorrow. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated thank you.
