why does the "Hey Siri" function, now tell me it cannot launch an app when the screen is locked?

    It's part of the security.

    Someone can say Hey Siri, launch Calendar/Messages/Contacts/... to see all the private details.

    You can choose whether to allow Siri access when the screen is locked.

     

    Settings > Siri > Access on Lock Screen

    Just a note, you cannot launch apps even the Access on Lock Screen is enabled.

    Below are the options that can be accessed when locked

    Today View

    Notifications View

    Siri

    Reply with Message

    Home Control

    Wallet

    Hey Siri has been working on the locked screen and only stopped when I upgraded to iOS 10.  I went back and checked and it is still selected.

    Try resetting the iPhone.

     

    Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

     

    UPDATE - The above assumes "Hey Siri" does not work from the lock screen at all.  If "Hey Siri" works from the lock screen, but just not for selected apps, then see @ckuan's response.
