Home Theater Fuctions Not Working in TVOS 10

Purchase an Apple TV 4thGEN about a month ago and everything was working perfectly.

One of the features I appreciated was the Apple TV Sleep Mode. I hit the button to put ATV

to sleep and it powers down along with turning my TV off. When I hit the remote button the

TV and AppleTV turn on. Simple. I didn't set anything up it just worked like that outta the box.

So now I update to TVOS 10 and now it doesn't work. Not only that but now I can not control

my volume on my TV. ***! I checked under the REMOTE settings but the option to control

the on/off to my TV is disabled as well as the volume option.

Perhaps it will be faster to factor reset my Apple TV.

I also have this issue; HDMI-CEC was working fine between my Apple TV 4, Poneer Receiver, & Optoma projector until one day after power-cycling them all ( via the common power bar ) they don't start each other up or shut each other down anymore. Incidentally I looked back at my notes on this & noticed that what was once labeled "Control TVs & Receivers" in the menu on the Apple TV is now labeled "Turn on your TV with your remote", so I assume a software update was applied on that restart that is causing this. Tried every combination of restarting, unplugging, disabling HDMI-CEC, that I could think of but still doesn't work. It also used to work straight from my Apple TV to the projector ( before I ran it through the receiver ) but that doesn't work now either, says "You can't use System Control with this configuration" ( which at least is more than the nothing that it says when connected through the receiver ).

Hi KurtSampson. The label on that Apple TV setting (Control vs Turn on) seems to depend on whether Apple TV has detected a CEC-capable device connected. Power-cycling all devices resulted in a rather brutal restart, and seems to have caused chaos. I'd try going back to basics, with just Apple TV and the projector. Enable CEC on the projector, then try to configure Apple TV. It may take a few restarts. If you've already done all that, there's not much else to try.

So I unplugged my HDMI cable from the Apple TV and my Sony LCD Bravia KDL-52XBR9 TV

and plugged them back in. The "Control Your TV with the Apple Remote" option became available

so I selected the ON option HOWEVER it still did not give me any functionality with the TV. I tried

putting the Apple TV to sleep but the TV didn't power off. I then turned the TV off manually and

power up the Apple TV but the TV didn't turn on. So I tried restarting Apple TV. Once restarted

I tried the Home Theater option but the "Control Your TV with the Apple Remote" option was

selected OFF and once again received the message "You can't use System Control with this

configuration". I also tried different HDMI ports on the TV and restarting a few more times after

changing it but to no avail.

Tried this and it worked on different TV. Not sure why it isn't working on other tv. Updated firmware on TV from 0209pn to 0211pn but it didn't have any effect. I was able to get the "Control Your TV with the Apple Remote" option on again through a series of restarts but it still doesn't control the TV. I guess I either have to get a new TV or reset the

Apple TV and not use tvos 10.
