Battery Life Macbook Air

On my 13" Mid 2012 MacBook Air, I had just fully charged the MacBook over-night and I needed to bring it to school. I checked the battery charge and it said "100%" however when I checked the time remaining, it said "1:29". I found this weird and I quit all apps, restarted it and then checked once more. This time it said "4:46". The laptop lasted the whole school day but I had to have only the minimum amount of apps open and the screen brightness on 3. Does anyone know why?

Thanks for the help but I still have the problem of the battery draining way too fast when I only have safari open... usually I am not even using flash. The problem isn't the battery saying its gonna drain but the battery actually draining.

Your battery is four years old and who knows how many cycles. It may be ready to be replaced. Have you checked the stats in System Information?

I have checked the battery cycle count and it said 590. This means that I still have another 410 cycles before the battery needs to be replaced

Yes. Seems your battery is just fine. Changes in hours left is the usual thing since every change in what the computer is doing causes the time remaining to change. All the time remaining means is that were the computer to keep doing exactly what it is doing at the moment of the reading, then the battery will last that long.

the battery is now 64% and the battery time is now 2:39... This is not normal and i only have safari open... What could be wrong? I also just updated the laptop to MacOS Sierra just this morning... could this be the problem?
