Thumbnail size in Photoshop "Save as"

Hi,

I just got my first Mac ever (iMac) and still finding my way around it, but also trying to meet a very tight deadline.

I'm having real trouble with the size of preview thumbnails in Photoshop CC when either opening a file or, specially, "saving as" - they are far too small and I see no option to make them larger as there is in Finder.

For opening the files I can select the files and press the Spacebar and, although a bit annoying, it is sort of fine - although the fact that when cycling with the left or right arrow keys in this mode the cycling stops at the "end of the line" of thumbnails instead of continuing along the files in order (as in Windows) and I have to go down to the "line below", thereby losing my place in the file order, is beyond my comprehension (I should also be able to use Adobe Bridge to open the files - although in my first and only attempt so far Photoshop malfunctioned when I did so).

But what is really driving me insane is the size of thumbnails in "Save as", where I don't seem to be able to use the Spacebar option. I have found no way to make these thumbnails larger, something which has already resulted in several time-consuming mistakes as I constantly have to overwrite files that I can only identify by their thumbnail.

I can only imagine that there's an obvious way to do this that I have missed so far; it would be too absurd if there wasn't. For me it could be a deal-breaker in keeping the Mac (as I really have to do this overwrite thing frequently and quickly).

I've read someone talking about Default Folder X5 but have not tried it (and I refuse to believe that I would need to purchase a separate app just to achieve something as basic as this)

Please help.

In the Save As dialogue have you set the dialogue preference to icon mode. I have included a screenshot from my Save As dialogue in Photoshop CS6, I don't have CC so don't know if the dialogue is different. In the top left there is the option to select Icon view, Column view or List view, displayed as a graphic.

If you are still not happy with that then maybe you should contact Adobe or Adobe forums and see what they say.

Hi Eau,

Thanks for your reply.

CC looks pretty much like your screenshot and my problem is precisely that I cannot enlarge the thumbnails which are the same size as in your screenshot.

I work mainly with line B&W pictures: thin black lines on white backgrounds. In that thumbnail size it is like looking at an ant in the snow - from very high up.

And as I said what really makes matters worse is that in "Save as" I cannot highlight any files, just click on them to acquire their name, so I cannot use either Spacebar or Column view (well, I can use column view but it is useless as I cannot highlight any files to see the thumbnail). Neither do I get the Cover Flow option there is in Finder, which would probably work very well for me.

Why isn't there a "Show View Options"? I just don't get it - it feels like I have travelled 20 years back in time...

I will go to Adobe forums but I have a feeling this is something Apple would have to sort out.
