I think you will find that lightning earphones can only be connected to iOS devices. That, of course, excludes Macs.
Hmm, interesting question, like seventy one I suspect the answer is currently it is not possible. There is a lightning to lightning connector that comes with the iPad Pro pencil, in theory that plus a standard lightning cable at least would physically connect it. (If you ring AppleCare you can buy that lightning to lightning adapter by itself, this is intended more for people who lose them.)
There is also the fact that Apple recently sent out a questionnaire about removing the headphone socket from MacBooks. This might imply they will be replacing it with something else.
Your new iPhone with the Lightening earphones came with a little adapter cable that allows you to convert the Lightening plug to a regular 3.5mm plug. It was packaged on the back of the cardboard earphone packaging.
