Q: how to re-download iMovie on version 10.10.4 macbook pro

Hi!

 

I have a much older version of the MacBook Pro running under version 10.10.4.

 

I recently took my laptop to a specialist to have some updates etc put in and my laptop will not withstand any more recent updates.

 

During the update, i lost iMovie app. The guy said i should just be able to re-download it from the AppStore however the only version on the store is the most recent, which obviously isn't compatible with my older running system!

 

I was wondering if anyone could advise me as to how i can download an earlier version of iMovie to run?

 

I'm really struggling with this, any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,

     

    The problem is this. The most recent version of iMovie 10.1.2 requires a Mac running OS X 10.11.2 or later which means you would have to upgrade your Mac to OS X El Capitan

     

    There are no earlier versions available from the App Store.

    Is there an iMovie version visible in your App Store purchases list?

    If you bought the iMovie you had with Yosemite, it may be available.

     

    There is a bit of confusion in how the Mac App Store works, and how

    versions of Mac OS(X) are depreciated as time goes on; so the ones

    you got a few years ago with a product or as a download may not be

    available later. You need to try & keep offline backup duplicates; even

    if that means using clone utilities & external drives to save full systems.

     

    Not sure if OS X Recovery could get you a replacement Yosemite 10.10.5.

    The last version would be a bit more polished than 10.10.4  as stated.

     

    Sorry if there is no simple and best answer for you; especially if El Capitan

    cannot work for you or may not fulfill the mission you need, in the MB/Pro.
