Q: App Store

Since installing ITunes 12.5.1.21 last week, I have not been able to access the App Store. Can anyone suggest a cause/solution?

Thanks

If the application will open, try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

Thanks for that, I tried it but, unfortunately, without any success. When I open the App Store app, either via the Apple menu or Launchpad, all I get is a whirly wheel and blank screen rather than the pretty El Capitan picture. The whirly wheel continues for a while - does this mean that my Mac is not connecting with the App Store - and then stops. This means I don't have a record of which updates I've downloaded or what new ones are available.

I've tried accessing the App Store by other means and signing in, but still the App Store application doesn't work when I go back to it.

I'll try the rest and cancel cookies approach again tomorrow, but I'm not not sure if they will work as I'm guessing the application is not opening properly. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

    Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
