Updated software 2 days ago. It stuffed the speed to a point I had to borrow someone's HP to finish a task. Very disappointed

I Updated my software for macbook pro 2 days ago, one of which was for its enhanced security etc.

After the update my macbook hangs every minute and the speed it exceptionally slow to a point that I sit for 5-10minutes waiting for finder to open up or safari to open up. this update stuffed my macbook's speed. It now does not work at all. Display and eveything else is fine.

I have an important assignment due this Friday, luckily someone lent me their HP to finish my task.

very sad and disappointed with this, Apple.

please advise of a solution.

thanks,

kitss

Thank you for your reply Ogelthorpe.

Please see the report as follows.

I deleted all files from the mac and updated to OS Sierra but the system is still very slow.

Let me know if you can suggest anything further.

Among other problems that Mac is being affected by a variety of adware. To learn how to recognize adware so that you don't install it to begin with, please read How to install adware.

Click the [Remove] links to remove adware.

Did you try that?

I don't believe that will work unless you back up your Mac using Time Machine though, or at least say that you did. I recommend making no changes to your system unless you create a backup first. That advice applies regardless of your chosen method to fix what's wrong with your Mac. To learn how to use Time Machine please read Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support.

In addition to the adware that you should remove, you also have a torrent application. Such applications are excellent instruments of importing malware so delete it.

Additional RAM would help. This MBP will accept up to 16 GB RAM (8 should be sufficient). The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

Your HDD is suspect. Boot into the recovery partition and run Disk Utility>First Aid>Repair.

You have an old and well used battery installed. Batteries do not last forever so consider replacing it.

Ciao.

If you updated from El Capitan to Sierra you should have noticed almost no change in speed at all. Please do as Oglethorpe suggests so we can take a look at what you have installed. If you updated from an older version of the OS once again, do as Oglethorpe suggests but note also that you might be running into an issue of having too little RAM, especially if you don't have a retina MBP.
