Q: iPhone 6 iOS 10 is not recognized by Win10Pro laptop

iPhone 6 iOS 10 is not recognized by Win10Pro laptop

After upgrading to iOS 10 on my iPhone 6, it is no longer being recognized as an external drive by my Win10Pro x64 laptop on either the USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports. New cable is being used to eliminate that as an issue.

Why is this happening?

Do I need to go back to the latest iOS 9.x.x?

Is there and new driver I need to download onto my PC?

I am set to automatically backup to iCloud, but I want to import photos directly to my PC.

Thanks

Vicki

FYI, I have the latest iTunes and iOS versions, but was still unable to view my phone's DCIM folder in Windows Explorer. I found, however, that the phone needs to unlocked prior to connecting.

Did anything resolve this as I have read all these answers and the recommended answer appears to be for an iPhone 7. I have an iPhone 6 and have the exact same problem as the first writer.  It is not recognized by Windows as a device so getting my photos off is a pain.  I have updated the driver, I have iTunes 12.5 and it is the latest version, I've plugged my iPhone in whilst unlocked, I've rebooted many times and still the problem persists.  I really suspect that there is a change in ios 10 and it ***** frankly.

Still a problem. iTunes and everything else, including Windows 10, is up to date. I've given up trying to get my iPhone 6 to appear in the Explorer. I can access it by using the Adobe Phototransfer app on the PC and installed on the iPhone. That sees the iPhone just fine, and I can grab photos from the camera roll and pull them across to the PC. But I can't just see the DCIM folder any more. Apple either doesn't see the problem or isn't interested in fixing it - I've made sure I have iOS 10 updates installed.
