Q: iPhone 6 iOS 10 is not recognized by Win10Pro laptop

iPhone 6 iOS 10 is not recognized by Win10Pro laptop

After upgrading to iOS 10 on my iPhone 6, it is no longer being recognized as an external drive by my Win10Pro x64 laptop on either the USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports. New cable is being used to eliminate that as an issue.

Why is this happening?

Do I need to go back to the latest iOS 9.x.x?

Is there and new driver I need to download onto my PC?

I am set to automatically backup to iCloud, but I want to import photos directly to my PC.

Thanks

Vicki

If you're not seeing the device in Windows Explorer reboot it, then unlock before connecting it to USB. Windows should pick it up as a camera-like device as long as the camera roll isn't empty.

It's very frustrating. I know TuringTest2 is just trying to help, but that same advice has been posted several times in this thread, and frustratingly, those instructions DO NOT work for at least some of us. What was working well, is now broken. I found a clumsy work around using Adobe, but I'd like Apple to fix what they broke. However, I don't think they even accept there is a problem, so they probably aren't working on it. My current contract isn't up until next year. If they've fixed it all by then, I'll keep my iPhone, but otherwise I think I may have to go back to an Android device, so that I can work across my phone and PC. I don't know why Apple has such a hard time understanding that many iPhone users are not Mac users.

Use iPhone feedback to let Apple know that you're having problems and describe the troubleshooting steps that you've taken so far. I have no difficulty with my iPhone 6+ and Windows 7, but it does seem as if things are not always so smooth for some people on Windows 10.

Apple's solution to get a Mac won't happen. Not paying 4x what a good PC with Win10Prox64 would cost for the same. And I have too much stored in PC format from 20+ yrs of work & home to switch to Mac. It would be cheaper and more cost effective to switch to Android if Apple can't figure out how to unscrew what they EFF'd up

Forget the usbaapl64 part type the following path way in where the A:\ is and hit the ok button. It will go back to the previous screen then hit NEXT. and your done.

Copy and Paste this into the browse box and then hit OK. Do not press Browse.

    BTDT, see my previous posts.
So I get back from that as I said previously and again just now, "MTP USB Device is up to date"

Out of the 300+ times i have dealt with this issue and updating the drivers in windows it always brings up a new window that says windows has finished updating driver software. If the entire thing is done correct it reinstalls the drivers. If its still not working than you must be having a different issue of some sort. Either way it is a driver issue as the computer knows the device is connected and itunes can see it. Windows just can't communicate.

I know we've talked already, but if you run through the steps in iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows at which step do you get this message? The aim is to direct Windows to use the Apple drivers even when it thinks the MTP USB Device driver it currently has selected for the hardware is up to date.

I had this problem, and I have a tested solution. Hope it works for you.

Tested on iPhone 6 Plus iOS 10.0.2 and PC Windows 7.

Read all text before you do something:

    - Download and Install: Wondershare DrFone for iOS (for Windows)

    - Install the free version ("Try It Free")

    - Restart PC

    - Open Wondershare DrFone

    - Click Evaluate

    - Unlock iPhone (from Passcode, Touch ID) and keep screen on

    - Connect iPhone to PC via usb

    - Wait until Wondershare DrFone detects iPhone

    - Disconnect iPhone (usb from PC), wait 5 seconds and reconnect

    - Wait until Wondershare DrFone detects iPhone, and now the Windows automatic window will appear or use Windows Explorer and you should be able to enter your iPhone's photo folder

    Wondershare DrFone for iOS

You should follow all these steps everytime you want to open your iPhone's photo folder on your PC.

I have no intention of installing a 3rd party software, even if free, to fix something that Apple f****d up.
If they don't get their act together by the end of my contract in Dec, the iPhone 6 will be my last iPhone. According to the read me file with iOS 10.0.2, they are aware of the issue and tried to fix it with that update, but apparently for many of us failed.
