Q: Text replacement gone After ios 10.0.1 upgrade

i have an ipad pro 9.7 and an iphone 5s

i updated the software to ios 10 and the iPad wouldn't recognize the charging cord, the apple store replaced the ipad. Upon receiving the new ipad i proceeded to restore from my latest icloud back up.

since updating both devices to ios 10.0.1 i have lost the text replacement on both devices.

all my shortcuts for work are gone.

I have tried signing out of icloud and re-booting the ipad so far with no change.

I do not have a mac computer.

iPad, iOS 6.0.1

    Hi rluschtinetz,

I understand from your post that after updating to the iOS 10.0.1 on your iPhone 5s and iPad Pro 9.7, that you are missing the text replacement on both devices. Using text replacements are very convenient and I will be happy to provide some information on this.

Since restoring from an iCloud backup can be time consuming depending on the amount of data included in the backup, you can check to see if the restore process has completed by going to Settings > iCloud > Storage. Also, I want to make sure that you are signed into iCloud on both devices. Then check to see if you can see your text replacements on either of your devices. If you have a recent iTunes backup for either one of the devices, you can also do a restore from that to the respective device as well.

    Have a good day.

After completing the icloud sign out and sign back in and waiting 12 hours, all of my text replacements are back. I would assume that I had a large icloud file to back up from and it was just a matter of waiting until all items were restored.

    thanks for all the help.

I am having the same problem.  I did the update on Tuesday and it is now Thursday.  I just discovered that all my text replacements on my Mac are still there.  Is there anyway to get them onto my iPhone and iPad?  Slightly unrelated, iCloud Drive on iPhone not the same as iPad and Mac.  Anyway to force it to sync?

Hi mac.geek, I was able to restore the text replacement on my iPad and iPhone by doing the following actions

1-signing out of icloud on my ipad

2-forcing a reset of the ipad by pressing the home and lock buttons until reset.

    3-signing back in to icloud

4- waiting approx 12 hours for icloud to re-load back onto my device

by doing this only on my ipad it seemed to force a re-load of icloud on my iphone also.

hope this works for you as it did for me. Best of luck
