How do I adjust the FONT SIZE on Safari 10?

I'm using OS X 10.11.6, and I just downloaded Safari 10.0. It seems to have replaced the "minimum font size" with a "zoom" function; but there's a big problem: If I make the font size as large as I prefer, the page runs off the screen; if I make the page zoom optimal, the font is too small! So I have to either squint at the text, or keep sliding back and forth to see the whole page. This is annoying and stupid. Isn't there a way to adjust the font size ALONE?

Have same question. Safari 10.0 is USELESS to me if I can't change font size. Never imagined Apple would do such a Microsoft (see IE) thing.

Just updated and have exactly the same problem. Apple, some of us have less than perfect eyesight so this is very restrictive.

I've just checked and I can still zoom in Chrome so I might have to switch to that, it's just a pain because I haven't used it for a long time so will have to set up all my log in stuff and bookmarks but at least I can read everything. It does feel like I'm using less and less Apple products recently, I'm no longer sure what my Macbook does for me that a Chromebook can't.

I just want to be able to read the text on the internet, surely that's not asking too much? 😟

Try creating a css file, call it Safari Font Size.css, with just the following in it:

p {font-size: 20pt; important}

You can change the 20 to what ever size text you want. Then go to Safari's Advanced preference pane and under the Style Sheet menu select that file. Also set the Page Zoom to 100%.

That should let you fine tune the font size for text.

Apple please put this feature back, i won't even get started on putting back the star rating for music on my iPhone, this feature was so useful and i never gave it a thought once set but now it's gone and I am left with the zoom option as the only thing to use for font size and it has to be done for every page I visit, Really have no idea why it was removed but put it back please, have been an Apple fan boy for lots of years but recent changes have been making me rethink alot of my dedication to Apple

I so agree with you @johnhs99.

I had my font set at 18 in Safari Pref and now after the update (done this morning) all I can do is use ZOOM. I'm constantly zooming in/out in Safari 10.0........ ⌘ +, ⌘- over and over again or clicking the zoom buttons in the menu bar. If I have the Page Zoom font set at 115%, it is too small to read and 125% has a lot of useless white space in the margins on the Google search page plus the description of the website is too small anyway. This is terrible UI planning. Why why why? You know, it's typical Apple, giveth and the permanently taketh away with an update.

Throughout the years, I've have given many feedback and bug reports to Apple and nothing ever gets fixed. Some of my bug reports became "duplicates" and then deactivated which means "it'll never be fixed" like the four finger swipe up to reveal what is actually in the Desktop Spaces instead of Desktop 1, Desktop 2 etc. That was taken away with El Capitan to be never seen again. I have no idea why something so useful would be taken away.

I rarely go on this Apple Support forum anymore since the entire UI changed and that irritating thin grey font. It's too much for my 54 year old eyes.

I'm just going to use Time Machine and downgrade. I can't deal with this new and improved (hahah) Safari.

I'm old and I too have a vision problem. And I also hate the App store because of those teeny-weeny fonts.

Has anyone tried to reinstall El Capitan? I did find that solution earlier, actually it was right after I discovered the font problem, but now unfortunately I can't find it again because the fonts are too small. It said to download osxupdcombo10.11.6. I'm very tempted to try this I can't see it doing any harm. I did check the update combo using Pacifier and it does contain safari 9.0.

Count me in as another who thinks Apple really dropped the ball on this one. The minimum font size setting was incredibly useful. Sites generated on PC's, for whatever reason, often have text that is too small to read on Macs. This was a vital fix to this problem.

While I still like Apple's ever helpful tech support, product development has really plummeted over the last five years. Their software has gotten incredibly buggy and their hardware bang for the buck just isn't what it used to be. (I'm still using a 2012 Mac because of this). I hope Apple shapes up soon, or this 30-year Apple fan will be switching to Linux PC's, something I never would have imagined five years ago. 😟

THIS WORKS.

I asked my friend who is a computer science guy. He suggested this. I just did this and it works. Follow the instructions on the above page.

If you have any questions, ask. This just installs an extension, no big deal.

CSS code is not for the average-plus MAC user, it requires a-step-beyond smarts. I'm stumped and I am PO'd. A knowledge of CSS code is required for this.. or some cut and paste, not fill in the blanks when there are NO blanks !?

You said ask, so I want size 18 so what do I erase (in extension's CSS page) and what and where do I type "18" ??

After this update, my MB-AIR keyboard no longer lights up until AFTER you enter your user password, just Brilliant.
