I'm a fan of The CW and they announced that The CW app will be available on Apple TV too. I want to know if will be available only on Apple TV 4.

Hi. I'm afraid that will be the case. The channels in ATV 3 are built-in; they cannot be installed or updated. Sorry.
But I've seen how the channels are added, I've had this Apple TV for 3 years and every time they put a new channel I see it. So, yes they can install it I guess.
Yes. Apple can add channels in a software update, of course.

I would also like to know if there is a plan to add the CW as a standard channel on Apple TV 3rd gen. I have the app on my phone/ipad and will try Airplay as an option, but it would be nice to not have to purchase a new Apple TV to gain access to it.
