Q: Pages 5.6 OS X & Pages 3.0 iOS compatibility
I have an iPad running iOS 10 - it tells me that there is an update available to Pages 3.0.
I have an early 2009 iMac running OSX 10.11 El Capitan (e.g. won't let me upgrade to Sierra, and thus can't upgrade to Pages 6.0).
Here's my question: if I upgrade to the latest version of Pages on iOS, will the files be compatible with the slightly older Pages 5.6.2 on the Mac?

I created a new Pages document in Pages 3.0 on my iPad & e-mailed it to myself (I don't use iCloud for documents). I then opened it in Pages 5.6.2 on one of my Macs. It opened without problems, just as opening a Pages 6 document created on another Mac did. It appears that Pages 6 & Pages 5.6.2 do use the same file format.
