Q: Is Two Factor Authentication with 2 Apple IDs possible for both?

I am one of those unfortunates who is stuck with two separate Apple IDs one for iTunes and another for iCloud and there are many of us and of course Apple will not allow us to merge them into one. That's not the point of this discussion and there is plenty of it on the issue. I currently have both accounts set up Two-Step Verification or Apple's original method.

Today I installed macOS Sierra and started reading a lot about Two Factor Authentication (TFA) and all the advantages to switching over to this new method from Apple. So I spent the afternoon researching, and everything I have come across shows the simple process of turning off my current method to TFA and it seems to be quite easy. But here's my hangup:

Everything I have come across only talks about setting it up in iCloud so doing that account is easy. I cannot however find out anything about setting it up for my iTunes account. I've tried every search possible and I just come back to the iCloud method which I guess assumes those lucky people who have but one Apple ID.

So here's where I stand. Changing my Apple ID for iCloud Is simple. But I have no idea if I can also change my iTunes Apple ID to TFA. I do not want to do one and not the other. On the other hand I want to use my Apple Watch to unlock my MacBook Pro which I read requires TFA.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!
