Q: Can I bulk delete the contacts with no name?

Is there a solution to the no name glitch on my iPhone 7?

Is there a way of deleting them?

iPhone 7, iOS 10

What is a no name glitch? Can you describe your issue and what you are trying to do? Also, do you sync your contacts with any program or service?

Near the bottom of my contacts list there are dozens of entries 'no name'. Have just had an iPhone 7.

The issue was first reported in the news on 6th September, before the 7 was launched.

I don't sync with any other program.

What information is included with these no name contacts? I've not seen this in the news or other tech sites that I visit, but that does not say it wasn't there. Are you located in the US? Do you have contacts turned on for iCloud? So you are saying that your contacts only exist on your phone, with no backup or sync anywhere else? Do you have Contacts Found in Apps turned on in Settings?

I have the same problem but it seems to be on my IPhone 6 only and not iPad or MacBook. In the contact list I selected 'groups' and deactivated 'all outlook'. I then ticked everything except 'PersonMetaData'. That seems to have cleared the 'no name' entries for now. I'm in the UK and there is no data on the no name contacts.

Thanks Chris, that sorts it. Still don't know what all the other things in that list mean.

    Steve.

I would like to understand this issue better, where are you seeing these checkboxes for PersonMetaData, etc? Is that something in the Outlook app, since you mention Outlook? I don't see anything like that in Contacts, or in Settings>Contacts. I sync my contacts with Outlook on my Windows computer.

Open open your contacts on your iPhone. Not on any app but the apple iPhone contacts. In the top left is a link to 'GROUPS' once you click that you have a list that starts with 'show all contacts' down to 'outlook global address list'. If you click on ,all outlook to deactivate it, then activate all except the 'all outlook' and 'personmetadata'.

Me either Steve. It was a trial and error thing. I assume that the no name entries were meta data for some of the contacts in one or other of your lists.

Okay, I see. I do not have multiple groups in my contacts, and that is why I don't see this. I wonder if this error is because of these multiple groups? I will have to look into that further. I sync my contacts via iTunes on the computer with Outlook 2013 on my computer. Is this Outlook the Outlook app on the iPhone, or is it via Exchange, or Outlook.com, via Office 365? Just trying to get a handle on where this is syncing from.
