That was a big jump, Apple. My 2008 Mac Pro outperforms most brand new Apple computers. And I know of Mac Pro 2009s that outperform even the new Mac Pros. Why no support all of a sudden? And why the multi-year jump between El Capitan and Sierra?

Pretty blatant forced obsolescence. Bad form Apple. I've been defending them all week on iPhone 7 and AirBuds and now this... I am severely disappointed right now and loosing faith.
I updated my 2009 MP to Sierra yesterday. First you have to update the firmware to that of a 5.1 MP.

I could be wrong but I don't think that firmware update method works on 2008 models.
You are right. It only works on the 2009 MP.
There were major hardware changes between the 2006-2008 and the 2009-2012 MPs
