"Hey Siri" on MacOS Sierra

Wondering how you can activate "Hey Siri" on Apple's new update to MacOS Sierra?

Well, you can't by default, but it's easy to set up!

  1. Ensure that the latest version of MacOS is installed.
  2. Open System Preferences
  3. Enable Siri
  4. Set keyboard shortcut to "option" (right side) + "\"
  5. Go to Accessibility
  6. Scroll to "Dictation" and click on it
  7. Check "Enable Dictation Keyword Phrase" box and enter "Hey" in text field below it
  8. Click "Dictation Commands" button above it
  9. Check "Enable Advanced Commands" box
  10. Press the "+" button to add a command
  11. Fill out fields as below!

Done!!! Try saying "Hey Siri" after pressing "Done" and closing System Preferences.

Be sure to wait a moment after saying the phrase so the Siri window pops up-Siri will not hear what you are saying until you see that window pop up.
