Can't update because of missing home button

Hey all,

I tried to update my phone to the most recent 10.0 iOS. Went through the process fine and came to a white screen that reads "press home to upgrade", my problem starts that I c currently have a very cracked screen and I am missing my home button. Though I can replace my home button no problem, I was hoping there is a work around so I can use my phone before it gets repaired. thoughts ideas?
