Sep 20, 2016 10:45 PM in response to ospthegeekby josji,This almost always happens with a new OS from Apple. You have to wait till the first update when they usually correct this. Speed of launching the new OS is more important then adequate energy use.

Sep 21, 2016 8:53 PM in response to ospthegeekby trueblue53,Same here.. my Macbook Air (2 months old) barely made it through my working day yesterday whereas before, I had more than half left. I've gone back to 10.11.6 to see if this indeed makes a difference.

Sep 22, 2016 4:25 PM in response to ospthegeekby John Galt,You may read recommendations to disable Spotlight indexing. The reason it is not a solution is that Sierra makes extensive use of the Spotlight database, which must not be disabled. Time Machine is one of those functions.
If you want to enjoy the increased battery life that will accompany Sierra, I recommend that you let it work as it is designed.

Sep 22, 2016 5:15 PM in response to Colonel187by Colonel187,So I contacted support about the issue and they had me power off and power on into safe mode by holding down the left shift key right after the power on sound. They said to boot all the way into safe mode and let it sit for 30 seconds then restart like normal. The rep said that safe mode will basically clear out the cache and ram. It seems to have done the trick in case anybody wants to try it.

Sep 23, 2016 5:36 AM in response to Tobishby Tao1982,In my case (MBP mid 2015), I switch Safari 10 to Google Chrome temporarily to avoid the battery problem. Safari 10 makes my MBP cooling fan running so fast.
I am waiting for new update for Sierra and Safari 10.

Sep 23, 2016 6:36 AM in response to Tao1982by Tao1982,Hi guys,
It seems I have solved this problem on my MBP mid 2015.
Just uninstall the IBM Rapport (or other similar protections for Safari 10) if you used for Bank protection.
You can find the uninstallation info here: http://www.trusteer.com/en/support/uninstalling-rapport-mac-os-x
Now my MBP goes back to normal battery life as OS X 10.11.6
