How do I share my activity through messages?

I have two friends that have an apple watch and we all have updated to watchOS3. When they added each other as friends, they were able to receive notifications regarding progress on their lock screens on their phone, on their watch, and in the message thread. I've added them as friends too, however, I don't get to see updates about their activity in the message thread. I only see it on my watch. How do I turn the setting on to see updates in the message thread?

Apple Watch, iOS 10, watchOS3

Ask them to send you a message, see below.

Send your friends a message

When you get a notification about your friend's activity, you can reply with preset replies for encouragement. You can also send all your friends a message from the Activity app:

  1. Open the Activity app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Swipe left, then turn the Digital Crown to scroll to the bottom.
  3. Tap “Send message to all.”

To send a message to one friend, tap the friend, scroll down, then tap Send Message.

I don't think you're understanding my question. Here is a screenshot of the message thread between my friends. Do you see how there is an activity update in the thread? I am sharing activity with the same friends, however, I do not receive the notifications in the thread. How do I turn the setting on so that I can receive notifications in the thread as well, like in the picture?
