I know how to change icons,, but i cannot find a way to revert to the old one.. by deleting..
e.g if u select an app and Command+i to pull up get info, u can drag and drops .icns files over the thumbnail to replace the icons file
However how u do revert back to the previous one ? Selecting it and hitting "delete" key does nothing..

I dont understand why this not works for you. If I put an icon on a Folder (or file) and then want to take this away I follow your description to go back to the original icon. I worked with copy&paste and then with back-delete or cmd-X
Your right,, Command-X does work, so i traced it down to the app i created with Winskin (porting games over)
Strange as it seems, i replaced it with the wrong icon...,.. Now by definition Winskin has it's own icon, so just by using Command-X should revert it... but in this case it does not..
I could probably just copy over the correct .icns, but isn't this just "replacing" what's there (and not "removing" ?) or is the act of replacing it, IS removing and then updating? If you get what i mean.
Basically using Command-X would be preferred because the "user" is doing this, and it's not automation.
The final thing I could do it just probably re-do the app,, re-port... don't wanna do that just for an icon..
You can try a basic check, if there is a permissions problem. Often there are permissions problem after installing new software. Maybe this can help you.
