Sep 20, 2016 9:26 PM in response to icloudstuff86by Tech@StrettonSC,Sorry icloudstuff86,
seems to be working ok for me,
Double check you don't have apps open that are draining your battery ie animated backgrounds and such,
Battery life can be greatly extended by reducing your screen brightness,
If you click the 'Battery' icon top right of your screen, Sierra will tell you if there is any health problems with your battery (I recently had to buy a new battery for my 2012 MacPro)
Good luck,
Rick

Sep 21, 2016 1:43 AM in response to icloudstuff86by Michelasso,I think in my case it's because I have Internet Sharing enabled and Plex running. Activity Monitor (which can't report anything for the time when the system is sleeping but still may give out useful information) shows indeed that Plex was consuming quite some energy. I restarted it and it disappeared from the top list. I'd check if you have any third party app running that maybe you don't remember.

Sep 21, 2016 1:52 AM in response to icloudstuff86by Wolf Wrobel,It's probably the photo recognition running in the background.

Sep 21, 2016 1:57 AM in response to icloudstuff86by ideaprison,Could be the Spotlight indexing which uses up a lot of CPU (and therefor energy), tap the icon in the menubar or do cmd+spacebar to see if it's indexing.

Sep 21, 2016 7:12 PM in response to dkru4okby klodha,For me, after 100% charge when I restarted my MacBook Pro Early 2011 (13.3"), battery went to 92% in 21 minutes. Though if I click on battery icon its showing 5 hours remaining, while with previous version of OS El Capitan, it used to be 6+ for me (I keep display brightness at lowest, no bluetooth and sound is also muted).
There is no indexing going on as per Spotlight, and no significant disk activity is shown either in Activity Monitor. Probably macOS Sierra will calibrate battery in 4-5 cycles?

Sep 22, 2016 8:29 AM in response to icloudstuff86by Negatetime,I have noticed the hard drive bay and battery bay are very warm when they shouldn't be. I logged on to the my Macbook this morning after its been sitting on the kitchen table and both bays are very warm, this is very unusual behavior after 12 hours of no activity and didn't happen before Sierra. I have also noticed my battery doesn't charge to 100%, it's always at 98% or 99%, this is a new behavior as well.

Sep 22, 2016 8:34 AM in response to icloudstuff86by Ralph9430,When you install MacOS Sierra a new version of the Photos app is installed. The new version will index all your photos so it can show the many new features. On my wife's MacBook Pro this took over an hour resulting in sluggish operation and increased processor use. Once the indexing completed the computer returned to normal operation.
