El Capitan can't use iMac

I updated my El Capitan this week and it had issues rebooting. It gets to my desktop after a lot of loading and a white screen, I am able to move my mouse around but it won't open anything from my dock. Not finder, Safari, or anything. It is completely unresponsive and then the beach ball appears.

I can only use my mac in Safe Mode. I installed Clean My Mac 3 like the support threads suggested, cleaned it all up and it still will not load.

I installed the Security update and it worked for 1 hour then the beach ball. I left it overnight. Still stuck on a beach ball.

Safe Mode again, I installed the newest security patch for safari and again.. desktop and beach ball!

I am 8 hours away from the nearest Mac genius bar. Talking to Mac has not helped so far. What is wrong with my computer? It is a late 2009 iMac. OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.
