Q: Lost Space after bootcamp

Hi,

I have an iMac (late 2017 Model) with 1 TB fusion drive.

I tried to use bootcamp but my windows install failed. I deleted the partition manually but i did not get back the storage.

please see below.

It is only showing total of 819 GB which includes 120GB Fusion Drive.

Originally my HDD used to display 1.13TB which now i can't see at all. Can someone please help

    Hi sokhde,

I understand that you've tried to set up Boot Camp, but when it failed you removed it and haven't gotten your hard drive space back. I know it's important to be able to utilize your entire hard drive, so I'm happy to help.

When removing Boot Camp, you have to remove the partition through the Boot Camp Assistant instead of manually with Disk Utility. This article gives additional information:

Set up a Windows partition on your Mac - Apple Support

    Remove the partition

Use Boot Camp Assistant to safely remove Windows and the Windows partition from your Mac, restoring your startup drive to a single Mac partition. You may want to back up your information first, because removing the partition erases all of the data it contains.

    1. Open Boot Camp Assistant.
    2. Select “Remove Windows 7 or later version," then click Continue.
    3. Do one of the following:

      • If your Mac has a single internal disk, click Restore.
      •
      • If your Mac has multiple internal disks, select the Windows disk, select “Restore disk to a single OS X partition,” then click Continue.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
