12inch macbook lcd screen broken on its own

Hello I have 12inch macbook early 2016 model and yesterday when I was working on it a single dead pixel line appeared . macbook is 3 months old and never been dropped or any kind of pressure was applied on it. Apple technicians told that inner LCD is broken . is there any kind of manufacturing defect because it happened in front of my eyes. Can I get my macbook replaced under warranty? The hairline crack is increasing day by day and there are no signs of drop and there is not even a single scratch on my macbook

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

I had this same issue, MacBook Pro, 6 weeks old, had hairline crack exactly at the sharp point of where the hinge is. This has grown and spidered over past few weeks and now the size of 2 centimeters. Took it to Apple and got blamed for shutting something inside and closing cover. I think I would of remembered doing this. I had a MacBook Air for 5+ years and no damage to the screen. I think the lower portion of the screen appears as a solid bar is not a good design and is actual glass vs. the old version. My 2 cents. Apple told me this is not covered and would be $430. Having used Apple products for 20+ years this is very disappointing and new model is too delicate

I have the same issue! I just was typing on my 3 month old laptop and noticed a hairline crack that is spreading right at the right hinge, sharpest point. this laptop is so new, it has never been dropped or mishandled. I am in shock and hope that Apple will do the right thing and replace/fix this. Clearly from these post, it is a common issue/problem they are having with the laptops.

I hope they do the right thing!

The same thing happened to me. I bought a 15" 2016 a few months ago and just noticed a small hairline crack in the bottom left corner of my screen. After a couple of days it went from 1/4" to a line across the entire screen. I treat this laptop like gold, I have a UAG case etc. I don't see how this could have happened, other than poor quality LCD screen.

I'm making an appt today with apple. Keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully they do the right thing.

I had the same issue with my 2017 MacBook Pro. My computer got a hairline crack near the right hinge of the laptop. I came in a few days before the crack appeared complaining about purple vertical lines going down my screen, however, one of the technicians told me to power it down and when he turned it back on the lines went away. I was told that sometimes this happens because of a software glitch. 2 days later I find that a 2cm crack has appeared on my screen near the hinge, and i’ve been accused of breaking it myself. Apple has told me to pay the full 625$ to repair it.

Did the technician physically see and inspect your Mac?

If so, they probably answered your question.

If not, that would be the next step. Take your Mac to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center and let them see and inspect your Mac and advise you how to proceed.
