In order to restore backup info to my new iPhone 7, I had to update iTunes. I have done that on my computer, but when I plug in my phone to the computer, it tells me that I need the latest version of iTunes. What should I do?

I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes in order to restore backup to my new iPhone 7. When I plug my computer into the iPhone 7, I am getting the message that I need to update iTunes. It is showing that I have updated the latest version, so I am now not sure what to do. Need help!

In iTunes go to the menu item "About iTunes". Which version are you actually running?

Which operating system version are you using on your computer?

Your new phone will require you use iTunes 12.5.1 which will require OSX 10.9.5 or higher.

I have 10.10.5 OS. I have downloaded iTunes 12.5.1 before I posted the question. I am still getting the message to download iTunes 12.5.1, however, my computer is showing that all updates have been completed.
