Q: iPad air power cycle for no reason

I have an iPad air.  The unit has iOS 9.3.5 installed.  Over the last few months the unit has started going into a cycle of blanking out the screen, activating the screen capture, or trying to power off.  This will happen on a full charge, minimal charge, or connected to a charger.  It will occur in any and all of the programs I have installed.  I have already reset the unit to the factory settings and reinstalled the programs I want.  There does not appear to be a pattern or reason for this to be happening.  I can not cause it to happen on cue, so I do not think it is related to a specific program or set of commands.  Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

    Greetings SPCooper!

I understand you're seeing a bit of unexpected behavior on your iPad Air with iOS 9.3.5. It's important to have a working device! You're in the right place for help.

When you say that you've reset the iPad Air to factory settings, which option did you use to do that? If you didn't use iTunes to restore your iPad Air, that'd be a great next step:

First, use this article to create a backup using iTunes:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    Then, follow these steps:

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Try to test the iPad Air before restoring a backup to see if the issue occurs. Be sure to reply to this thread if you continue to experience unexpected behavior after these steps. Cheers!

Thanks for the response and suggestions.  I have already seen the referenced articles.  I followed the steps with no change in the behavior of the iPad.  Due to that, I reset the iPad to the factory settings and then did not use the iTunes restore feature to put my data, settings and applications back.  This was on the outside chance that one of the programs was causing the issue.  Same results.  Unexpected screen and power cycling.  I am beginning to think that it is an issue with the hardware or the IOS itself.
