Getting message: "Could not load Printers

Just updated to OS X El Capitan. Now I can't connect to my printer. Under "System Preferences", when clicking on "Printers and Scanners", I get the message "Could not load Printers & Scanners preference pane." Not given any clue as to what to do about it.

Thanks in advance for your help.
