Q: OS X sierra can not unlock MacBook with iwatch

I did the upgrade to both sierra and iOS3 (iwatch - series 2) successfully.  I have a new MacBook pro.  I've done the 2 step authorization on my MacBook and iPhone 7,  and I've also turned on the security setting of letting my iwatch unlock the laptop.  When I go to unlock the computer the display reads  'unlocking with iwatch..." then it stops spinning after awhile and I have to input the password  in as usual because the watch doesn't do the job.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS Sierra (10.12)

    Hi hgiordano,

Congratulations on your new Apple Watch! I understand that you are trying to set it up to unlock your MacBook Pro, but each time it fails to unlock it. I know that it's nice to be able to safely and quickly unlock your MacBook Pro, so I'm happy to help.

Let's start by making sure that you have continuity enabled on your MacBook Pro. To do that, open  System Preferences > General, then make sure that the second box from the bottom labeled Alow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices is enabled.

If this is enabled and you still have issues, then disable and re-enable the option to Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac:
Automatically unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

I got it all to work... FINALLY ... I had to redownload OS X sierra using the app store.  Go in and turn off, turn back on the security setting to allow it to work with my iWatch, then restart my iWatch and my laptop.  Yay! I guess something happened with the Sierra download

I downloaded and reinstalled OS X sierra from the app store, then toggled the security setting for using iWatch, and restarted everything (iWatch included).  Happy ending!
