Q: Right command key not working in macOS Sierra

Ever since I installed macOS Sierra, the right command key is somehow mapped to the option key (and the option key is still the option key). Is there a new setting that I need to change? I'm not finding it.

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12)

    it also may not be related to Sierra at all

     

    did you shut down all applications before installing?  did you interrupt install?  where you mashing they keyboard or mouse during install?  did you use things to alter the keyboard?  or apps that do so possibly for "international" multi-lingual reasons?

     

    # did you get advice from online to do things like this?

    $ defaults write com.apple.?keyboard?  someoptions somesetting

     

    ...

     

    there is a way to clear "nvram" or something, when somehow (something) has messed up settings that are stored there

     

    that it is not new to Sierra it is NOT a Sierra problem, but may be due to something you did *during* install.  install of *any* OS is a very big deal, you shouldn't *touch* anything during install
