How To put tilde/accent

Hi, i would like to know that how can i put tilde o accent over the a/o letters. I would like to use option+n to put the a with tilde but it doesn't work. I know that if i make a long press on "a" it will show me a menu with different type of tiledes/accents. The problem with this solutions that it's slow for me.
